About This Course

The CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) is the legal requirement for anyone wanting to ride a motorcycle or moped on UK roads. This comprehensive one-day course covers classroom theory, practical bike control exercises and a minimum 2 hour on-road ride.

Do I need a motorcycle licence to do a CBT?

No, you just need a valid UK provisional or full driving licence. You must be at least 16 years old.

Is the CBT a test?

No, the CBT is training, not a test. As long as you demonstrate safe riding during the day, you will receive your certificate.

What can I ride after my CBT?

With a CBT certificate, you can ride a 125cc motorcycle or moped (with L-plates) for up to 2 years. You cannot carry passengers or use motorways.

What if I don't pass on the day?

We'll work with you at your own pace. In rare cases where more practice is needed, we offer reduced-rate return sessions.
